“Robinhood,” a 2025 Telugu heist action-comedy film, marks a significant collaboration between actor Nithiin and director Venky Kudumula, following their successful venture “Bheeshma” in 2020. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Sreeleela, Vennela Kishore, Rajendra Prasad, and Devdatta Nage.  

The project, initially titled “VNRTrio,” was announced on March 22, 2023, signifying the second collaboration between Nithiin, Kudumula, and Rashmika Mandanna. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Mandanna was replaced by Sreeleela. The film was officially launched on January 26, 2024, coinciding with India’s Republic Day, and principal photography commenced in Hyderabad before moving to Munnar and Melbourne, Australia. Filming wrapped up in December 2024.

Plot

Ram, who grows up in an orphanage, becomes Robinhood, a thief who steals from the rich to help the needy. His life takes a turn when he’s tasked with protecting Neera, a billionaire’s daughter who arrives in India from Australia. The story unfolds in Rudravanam, a village targeted by Saamy, a criminal aiming to control the marijuana trade. Ram, along with John Snow, head to Rudravanam to protect Neera and the village.

Music

The film’s music is composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar, marking his first collaboration with Nithiin. The audio rights are acquired by Sony Music India. Two singles have been released:

  • “One More Time” (November 26, 2024)
  • “Wherever You Go” (February 14, 2025)

Release and Reception

“Robinhood” was initially slated for a Christmas 2024 release but was postponed to avoid competition. The film was released theatrically on March 28, 2025, coinciding with Ugadi.   

Box Office Performance

The film had a slow start at the box office, collecting around ₹1 crore on its opening day. However, positive word-of-mouth could potentially boost its weekend collections.

Reviews for “Robinhood” have been mixed. Critics have praised Venky Kudumula’s direction and Nithiin’s performance, but some have noted issues with the film’s pacing and predictability, particularly in the second half.
